Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  You have 2 buildings across the street from each other. What is the difference?

A:  Both the South and the North building are licensed for independent and assisted living. They boast different décor but the same great menu and types of activities. Some apartment sizes are different and may not be available on one building or the other. Just come and see which community fits you best!

Q:  What paperwork do I need to move into the Beverly Hills Carmel?

A:  We require a Physician’s Report to be filled out, and signed by your primary doctor before move in. Our month-to- month agreement can be filled out by you or your designated representative before or on the day you move in.

Q:  Is it possible to come for a trial stay?

A:  Absolutely! We welcome anyone to come and stay for a month to see if the Beverly Hills Carmel is right for you. Just bring your clothing and toiletries – we provide the rest. The cost depends on the type of apartment chosen and the care needed.

Q:  Do you have cable and telephone in the apartments?

A:  Every apartment is wired for cable, including internet. You will need to arrange for that privately and is a separate cost. Also, if you want a land line telephone in your apartment, you need to contact the telephone company to arrange that. Your phone and internet bills will come to you from the respective companies.

Q: Can my family and friends join me for meals?

A:  We’d love to have your family and friends join you for meal times. There is no cost the first week or so after you move in; after that there is a nominal charge. Please let us know if you’re planning on having guests and/or joining your loved ones so we can inform the kitchen.

Q:  I’d like to have a private caregiver. Is that possible?

A:  Many of our residents choose to have a private caregiver. We do require a TB test before they come in. If you decide to have a 24-hour caregiver, there is a charge of $500 per month for your caregiver to stay. We require all caregivers to be fingerprinted and pass a TB test, just as all regular staff members.

Q:  If I come by to tour, can I stay for lunch?

A:  Of course! When you call and arrange for a tour, just tell us you’d like to stay for lunch. It’s on us!

Q:  Do you accept people who are a wheelchair? How about a motorized wheelchair?

A:  Yes we accept residents who are in both the traditional and motorized styles of wheelchairs. Also, our Town Car accommodates our wheelchair residents when they go out to appointments.

Q:  What about my mail delivery?

A:  When you move in, make sure the Post Office knows your new address and
apartment number. You have your own private mail box at our communities.

Q:  May I bring my car?

A:  If you are still driving and it’s approved by the physician you can have your private vehicle here with us. You’ll have a reserved parking space. You may also have your private vehicle here for your caregiver to use, if desired.

Q:  When can I move in?

A:  As soon as we receive the Physician’s Report and it’s approved by our Med Office, pay your first month’s rent (which may be pro-rated), and fill out our agreement paperwork, you can move in! It’s that easy.
