The life of Eva Godel is a story of triumph. She is a woman who survived the Holocaust, immigrated to America, and carved a path to success far ahead of most women in her generation. It is often said that overcoming adversity builds character and it must be true because Mrs. Godel is an exceptional woman, with more character than most, who continues to pursue opportunities to make life better for those around her.
It is a privilege and a rare opportunity to meet a woman who has such an amazing story to tell. Upon leaving the concentration camp, Mrs. Godel returned to her home in a warring section of Hungary that was part of Romania at the time. She and her husband then lived for several years in Israel before making the journey to the United States, originally to visit her two brothers. However, she never returned from the trip, having made the decision to stay in Los Angeles and pursue the exciting opportunities she found there.
Her success story, which began in the 1950’s, includes the creation of a fashion business that sold exclusive designs from an Italian fashion house, UCLA night courses in Hospital Administration and the mastering of nine languages out of necessity and the desire to communicate. These languages included English, French, Hebrew, German, Yiddish, Italian, Spanish, Hungarian and Romanian!
Happily Eva, the young woman who survived the Holocaust so long ago, has created an elegant and safe haven that is a real home to other survivors, their families and friends.
